ABOUT THE FILM: Hrafnamynd

Hrafnamynd is a film that developed organically—without a set plan, only a longing to return to the mysterious landscapes of my early childhood and to capture the presence of Icelandic ravens.
I wanted to see Iceland through their eyes. To disappear into their world.

Years earlier, I had done something similar with Crowfilm, documenting the crows of Portland, Oregon. Over six years, I returned to Iceland time and again, often staying in remote places along the west coast. These periods of solitude brought me back to my father’s old photo slides.

Looking at them anew, I realized my journeys as an adult were retracing paths from nearly fifty years earlier. The film emerged from this reflection—naturally, quietly.

During the editing phase, I began working with Patricia Wolf. Her music resonated so instinctively with the images that a collaboration quickly took shape. We developed an original score and immersive sound design that ultimately lifted Hrafnamynd beyond what I ever imagined.

ABOUT EDWARD PACK DAVEE

Edward Pack Davee makes unconventional narrative films and experimental documentaries. His work is often quiet, atmospheric, and dreamlike—with the environment as an active presence.

He prefers working with motion picture film, using alternative exposures and processing techniques to capture subtle textures. Sound plays an equally vital role—he either crafts his own sonic environments or collaborates with artists who share his vision.

ABOUT PATRICIA WOLF

Patricia Wolf is a musician, sound designer, and field recordist based in Portland, Oregon. She weaves ecological field recordings into minimalist electronic compositions, creating emotionally textured and immersive sonic worlds.

Her sound design work includes presets for Novation’s Peak and Summit synthesizers, as well as soundtracks for film, games, and VR experiences.

Her acclaimed releases include:

She is currently working on her fourth studio album and recently completed the soundtrack and sound design for Hrafnamynd.
